     Boliqueime (and surrounding)

  • O Lavrador (price $-$$) a walking distance from our house, tasty menu, european cuisine with a special twist
  • Restaurante Bolitasca (price $) local restaurant near to the church in Boliqueime, simple portugues kitchen with barbecue area, good prices and friendly staff
  • Quinta do Mel (price §-$$): is a rural agroturismo. You need to know this to understand the concept. The dishes are all make fresh, so they sometimes take time. Try the chef suggestion of the week. Always delicious.
  • Restaurant Zip Zip (price $-$$): our home base - when we are in casa escondida - in the neighbor village Paderne. We know Luis so many years and we are fan from his interpretation of portuguese cuisine! Just the bests ingredients, quality food and time for the cooking process. That's his secret.
  • Restaurant Bocage (price$): we love the bocage! It's a small Restaurant in a quite street of Loulé where you will enjoy tipical algarvian cuisine. Every day fresh suggestions from the chef. You will be surprised about the quality, price and the welcome atmosphere.
  • Flor do Praca (price $-$$): this restaurant is family related to Retiro do Campones. So you can find the spirit of the great Retiro also in this plates. Just near to the mercado of Loulé. If you don't like busy than choose better the Bocage in Loulé. Our favorite plate: atum algarvio!
  • Retiro do Campones (price $$-$$$): a perfect match between family and kitchen! Dona Teresa still stays every day in the kitchen and cook with pation her algarvian plates. The restaurant is a really hidden gem.
  • Casa Vostra (price $-$$): if you want to eat a pasta or pizza then try casa vostra. You will like the ambient - old walls mixed with modern concrete. Outside is a lovely patio with old olive trees. My favorite pasta: linguini nero with clams.
  • Casa do Polvo  (price §-$$):  If you like to eat octopus, that's our favorite place. Not easy to get a table (I agree) but we always enjoy to eat here in this little village of Santa Luzia where you can see the fishers and how they catch the fresh octopus. They are specialized on octopus in every variant (with rice, sweet potatoes, pasta and also curries).


    Beach Restaurants

Boliqueime Area

  • Rocha Baixinha at Praia da Falesia (price $$): great food, friendly service, perfect place to eat at the beach and enjoy the sundown. Try the arroz the marisco (sellfish rice for 2 people) - it's really good.
  • Izzy's Beach Bar & Restaurante (price $-$$): we love Izzy's for their concept, same crew since years. You can seat on the terrace with a drink, lunch or dinner an listen to live music an enjoy the beach view. Always open the hole year.

Portimao Area

  •  Villa Joya See (Price $$-$$$): it's a stunning little restaurant in a quite beach. Very good cuisine (Asian/Mexican/European). You will need to make a reservation at the main hotel and plan a budget.
  • Club Nau (Price $-$$): if you are looking for live music, try this spot with beautiful view and sunset. The food is good especially the sushi bar.
  • Restaurante O Pesdcador (Price $-$$): Lovely restaurant with a great view. The food and wine are delicious and the prices are reasonable for the location. My favorite plate Linguine Nero di Sepia! - so tasty!
  • Green Heart @ Cloque (price $-$$): for us it's a must visit on the Portimao Area. A hidden gem above the beach rocks with great view, good kitchen, nice chill out bar. Brunch is also served. 
  • Rei das Praias ($$-$$$): another favorite spot of us because of the sunset vibe. Private beach with magical sunset. You always need to make a reservation and plan a budget. The Food is good and the stuff is very friendly.
  • Baia beach bar (§§-§§§):  nice beach bar, located at one of the largest beach in Lagos (praia meia) with a bit bohemian atmosphere. Regular live music on sunday and very good menu diversity (snacks, lunch and dinner)


   Portimao

  • Cafe Brasil Marisqueira (price §-$$): right in downtown - great seafood and good Portuguese Cuisine, well known by the Portimao Resident. It's our home base for lunch when we are in town. The food is delicious and the owner is such a great guy!
  • Casa da Tocha (price $-$$): cute little tapas and wine bar. Portugiese interior We can highly recommend the clams and octopus. They are delicious.
  • Aldeia (price $): new culture space and restaurant – behind the church in Portimao – we love this place where you can enjoy authentic live concerts from local artists with a delicious cuisine - great vegetarian option. 
  • Dona Barca (price $): setting under the old blue bridge in Portimao. It's a lovely basic fish restaurant where you will find some more restaurants all around. Known by Portuguese tourist very well, so in summer be prepared it's quite full.
  • Faina (price $-$$): located near to the museum of the sardinha at the waterfront (a must in Portimao). Modern restaurant, where you can enjoy portuguese cuisine with a little twist.
  • Teresinha (price $):  best qualitiy price in Portimao. Good honest portuguese food - always busy this restaurant because well known from the local residents. We love to take lunch here and eat a sardinha assada.
  • Ti Alzira (price $): authentic portuguese restaurant for hungry people. We choose Ti Alzira often on sunday because of their Sunday special and delicious menu with goatling and lamb.
  • Restaurante o Mane (price $-§§): another restaurant with thrue portuguese and fresh cuisine. 5 minutes walk away from casa no meio. 
  • Chiosque Chiquinho (price $): our favorite place to drink coffee in the morning on the waterfront.
  • A casa da Isabel (price $): little café and bakery in the center of Portimao with great home cakes!!! If you want to eat the famous portuguese pastel de nata - try them here :)
